Bogue Chitto clobbers Lumberton

LUMBERTON – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats clobbered the Lumberton Lady Panthers to open their Region 1A race with a 17-0 victory Thursday night in slowpitch softball action.

“We did a good job scoring runs early,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “This was an very important district win.”

The Lady Cats (9-3, 1-0) will be in action Monday. They visit their Lincoln County rivals, the West Lincoln Lady Bears. Junior varsity begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6.

The Lady Cats came out hot and hammered the Lady Panthers hard to claim a quick shutout in three innings of work.

Brooke Myers pitched the victory for the Lady Cats with two strikeouts and two walks.

Mattie Avants, Alexis Givens, Terrah Nelson, Jordan McKinney and Colby Kirkland provided the offensive charge to lead BC’s hitting clinic with a pair of single apiece. Hitting safely were Christian Black, Alana Nettles and Brooke Myers.
