DAILY LEADER / MARTY ALBRIGHT / Bogue Chitto Lady Cats have high expectations as they start the 2013-14-basketball season. Directing the charge are seniors (from left) Jordan McKinney, Earlnesheia Dillon and Mattie Avants.

The Bogue Chitto Bobcats and Lady Cats are excited to start the 2013-14-basketball season as they rely on youthful but experienced talent to make a run in the Region 7-1A race.

BC debuts Thursday, Nov. 7, at Enterprise. Tipoff starts with the girls’ game at 6 p.m., followed by the boys’ game at 7:30.

Lady Cats ready for a successful season

Head coach Christi Terrell and her Lady Cats experienced another Cinderella season last year as they made it to the big dance in the Mississippi Coliseum.

Terrell will have close to the same nucleus coming back, only losing three to graduation: Adrienne Wallace, Rheagan Welch and Lauren Wallace.

“We are looking forward to getting the season started,” said Terrell. “The girls are excited and ready to play. We plan to focus on one game at a time, improving each game offensively and defensively.”

This year, Terrell has 16 players on squad. Mattie Avants, Earlnesheia Dillon and Jordan McKinney will be providing the senior leadership to help direct the Lady Cats this season in Region 7-1A action.

Returning starters for the Lady Cats are Mattie Avants, Earlneshia Dillon, Zariah Matthews and Christian Black. Coach Christi Terrell was recognized as the Daily Leader’s 2013 Coach of the Year.

The Lady Cats finished 27-8 last year and made a return trip to the Class 1A State Tournament where BC was eliminated by the H.W. Byers Lady Lions for the third straight year.
