SALEM – Bogue Chitto suffered another tough loss Friday night, with the Salem Wildcats overpowering the Bobcats 49-0 to secure a Region 4-1A victory.

After a bad punt by BC, Salem quickly capitalized on the great field position and scored on a 11-yard reception to take a 6-0 lead.

On the next Bobcats’ possession, quarterback Conner Douglas threw an interception to give the Wildcats another scoring opportunity. Salem would score on a 45-yard run to secure a 13-0 lead.

The Bobcats threw another costly interception that would result in another touchdown as the Wildcats increased their lead to 21-0 in the first.

In the second quarter, Bogue Chitto’s senior running back Kobe Roberts helped his team stay on the field offensively after converting on a big third down, but BC failed to put points on the board.

Salem ended up scoring two more times to secure a 35-0 advantage at halftime.

At the 5:17 mark of the third quarter, the Wildcats found the endzone again on a 75-yard passing touchdown with the PAT good. Salem led 42-0.

In the fourth quarter, the Bobcats would put the football on the ground to run the clock but ended up fumbling and Salem recovered it. The Wildcats added to their lead with a 28-yard touchdown run.

The Wildcats will travel to Lumberton next Friday while the Bobcats (0-6) will return home to Troy Smith field to host the Mount Olive Pirates (0-6) for homecoming.
