French Camp ends BC season

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Bobcats’ Cinderella season came to a disappointing end Friday night after falling to the French Camp Academy Panthers 6-2 in Game Two in Class 1A State baseball playoff action at Stan Long Field.
In last Thursday game at French Camp, the Bobcats and Panthers fought hard in a close contest as French Camp Academy squeezed out a narrow 3-2 victory over Bogue Chitto.
“We dug ourselves in a early hole and could not get out of it quick enough to win the game,” said BC coach Russ Carter. “Brock Roberts pitched a great game, which gave us a shot to stay in the game.
“We just could not get our offense clicking and we played a little sloppy on defense,” continued Carter. “French Camp has a good team and their pitcher did a good job keeping us off balance at the plate.”
The Bobcats conclude their season with a 10-16 record overall. BC finished third in their Region 7-1A race with a 2-4 record.
French Camp 6, Bogue Chitto 2
In Game Two, the Bogue Chitto Bobcats came out with high hopes of keeping their dreams and season alive as they fought hard to even the series.
In the first three innings of action, the Panthers came ready to play and look to end BC season as they claim a 5-1 advantage and held off the Bobcats attack throughout the rest of the contest by only allowing BC just one more run in the fourth inning.
Hagan Box helped the Panthers complete the two-game sweep as he collects the victory on the mound with eight strikeouts and two walks.
Senior Brock Roberts took the mound for the Bobcats and left it all on the field but suffered the setback with 13 strikeouts and four walks.
Steven Ginn was the offensive leader at the plate for the Bobcats with three singles. Brooks Ingle contributed a triple and a single. Hitting safely were Landon Roberts, Nick Parker, Tucker Lambert and Bo Smithers.
Box was the top hitter on offense for the Panthers with a double and two singles. Brooks Warren and Brady Jackson hit safely.
French Camp 3, Bogue Chitto 2
The Bobcats and Panthers provided a exciting defensive contest in Game One as both team worked hard to win Game One.
Cole Henson pitched the win for the Panthers with five strikeouts and three walks.
Steven Ginn absorbed the setback for BC with two strikeouts and one walk.
Ingle was the slugger for BC at the plate with a double and two singles. Joey Elliot, Landon Roberts and Parker hit safely.
Box powered French Camp’s offense with a pair of doubles. Michael Ervin, Cole Henson, Colt Trehern, Jeremy Lowery and Hunter Vaughn recorded a single each.
