WESSON – The West Marion Trojans relied on their small technique to help them rally back and escape with a 13-7 win over the Wesson Cobras Thursday night in Game One of the best-of-three series in Round Two of the Class 3A State baseball playoff race.

“Several of our guys did a good job hitting the ball,” said Wesson coach Seth Lofton. “West Marion did a great job taking advantage of our defensive mistakes and cashed in some runs. Now, our backs are against the wall and we need to come out fighting in Game Two to even the series and keep our season alive.”

The Cobras (12-13) will be looking to keep the season alive tonight as they prepare to travel to Foxworth to take on the West Marion Trojan in Game Two. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
