The Loyd Star Hornets survived an offensive marathon Monday night to knock off the St. Andrews Saints 13-10 to claim a victory for Senior Night at Smith Field.
“I am proud of the guys’ effort,” said Loyd Star coach Jared Britt. “They battled hard. We pitched two ninth graders and they did a great job keeping us in the game. We managed to catch some breaks during the game that went our way. Overall, this was a good win over a tough opponent.”

The Hornets (14-8, 8-2) will be in action today as they prepare to host the West Marion Trojans. Junior varsity action starts at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6:30 p.m.
