MCCOMB – The West Lincoln Lady Bears secured two victories in softball action Friday and Saturday.

The Lady Bears are riding a five-game winning streak after knocking off the McComb Lady Tigers 12-8 Friday night and defeating the Salem Lady Wildcats 6-1 in Saturday’s contest.

West Lincoln (13-3, 5-1) will return to action Thursday as they prepare to travel across Lincoln County for a huge district showdown against the Loyd Star Lady Hornets. Junior varsity action starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

West Lincoln 13, McComb 8 

West Lincoln survived a late-inning scare from the Lady Tigers as McComb charged back to trim down the Lady Bears’ lead to 7-6 in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Lady Bears bounced back to outscore McComb 6-2 in the final two innings to claimed the win.

Micah Redd was the winning pitcher for West Lincoln with five strikeouts and one walk.

Dynasty Carr suffered the loss for the Lady Tigers with three strikeouts and 10 walks.

Senior Destiny Allen powered the Lady Bears at the plate with two doubles and two singles. Bentley Sills contributed a triple and a single. Malori Hall and Peyton White provided a pair of singles. Hitting safely were Alli Mullins and Redd.

Katie Kalusche was the top hitter for McComb with three singles. Kristen Johnson and Carr helped with two singles apiece. Ashley Bonds, Abigail Jordan, Ariel Johnson, Franeisha Harris, Leyton Terrell and Bethany Davis hit safely.

In JV action, West Lincoln (8-1) suffered their first lost 8-5 to McComb.

Millane Lewis and Anna Brooke Davis led the Lady Bears with a double apiece. Cadie Maxwell, Megan Gerald and Demesha Deer had a single each.

West Lincoln 6, Salem 1 

The Lady Bears managed to overcome a sluggish start as they increased their 2-1 lead in the fifth inning by pushing across four runs to secure the win.

Malori Hall tossed the victory for West Lincoln with 10 strikeouts and allowed only two walks.

Rachel Bond took the loss for Salem with five strikeouts and five walks.

Hanna Moak sparked the Lady Bears at the plate with a home run. Hall fueled the flames with a triple and a single. Allen had two singles. Brianna Fauver, Redd and Lewis hit safely.

Lauren Burch was the only hitter for the Lady Cats with a double and two singles.

In JV action, The Lady Bears rebounded from their first loss to overpower the Lady Wildcats 11-1.

Gerald paced West Lincoln’s offense with two singles. Makennah Redd had a double. Hitting safely were McKenzie Pyles, Davis and Maxwell.
