Bears clobber Amite County

The West Lincoln Bears clobbered the Amite County Trojans 15-0 Friday afternoon to remain undefeated in Region 7-2A baseball action.
The Bears (11-2, 4-0) return to action Tuesday as they prepare to host the Bassfield Yellowjackets for another big district test. Junior varsity action starts at 4:30 p.m., followed by varsity action at 6:30 p.m.

The Bears and the Trojans decided to play their varsity game first due to the threat of rain as West Lincoln and Amite County fans gathered to witness this contest.
West Lincoln fought hard to overcome their sluggishness at the plate as they pushed one run across in the first inning and added two more runs in the second inning to secure a 3-0 after two innings of action.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Bears’ offense finally got rolling as they demolished the Trojans with a 13-run explosion to claim the win on a mercy rule.
Tanner Boutwell was the winning pitcher for the Bears with five strikeouts and no walks.
Lantravious Franklin suffered the loss for the Trojans with two strikeouts and six walks.
Senior catcher Brady Wilson provided the offensive spark to lead West Lincoln with three singles. Alex Neal, Lofton Sills and Tyler Moak fueled the flames with a double each. Hitting safely were Chase Buckles, Jeremy Burns, Bryce Temple and Boutwell.
Franklin recorded the only hit at the plate for Amite County with a single.
In junior varsity action, The West Lincoln Bears secured the win by a forfeit.
