BASSFIELD – The Loyd Star Hornets are riding a two-game winning streak as they exterminated the Bassfield Yellowjackets 13-1 Tuesday night in Region 6-2A baseball action.

“Peyton Flowers pitched a great game and hit the ball really well to give him some support,” said Loyd Star coach Jared Britt. “Brett Calcote also had a good day at the plate for us. Overall, I am proud to get the win, but we cannot allow ourselves to be satisfied with this win. We must continue working hard to get better every day.”

The Hornets (5-3, 1-0) will be in action today as they visit Brookhaven to battle Panthers in a make-up game due to bad weather earlier in the season. The junior varsity game will start at 5 p.m., followed by varsity action at 7 p.m.
