The Budweiser Clydesdales were delayed a couple of days getting into Lincoln County due to the snow and ice that brought most people’s daily life to a halt this week.
They will still make a special delivery to a lucky local man on Super Bowl Sunday, but they have changed their public viewing date from the previous Saturday schedule to a Monday afternoon venue at the Lincoln Civic Center.
The famous horses will make their appearance for the public on Monday, Feb. 3, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the stall barn near the arena at the Lincoln Civic Center, 1096 Beltline Drive NE, Brookhaven, said Quinn Jordan, civic center director.
Jordan said visitors should come in the north gate between the arena and the RV park.
“Bring your cameras to enjoy pictures with the Clydesdales,” Jordan said. They will have one horse out in full dress, and their handlers will be on hand to answer questions, too.”
The event is free to the public. For more information, call Jordan at the civic center, 601-823-9064.
The Clydesdales are visiting Brookhaven after local insurance agent Josh Smith recently won a visit from the American icons of ale in a contest put on by Anheuser Busch.
The contest asked participants to show the company how friends and family celebrated the holidays. Smith entered a short essay and a photo of him, his wife and children standing with the Budweiser Clydesdales. The horses will visit the family at a private gathering Sunday.
