BA kickers claim two district wins

The Brookhaven Academy boys soccer team captured a pair of huge district victories last week over Central Private and Veritas. The Cougars improved their overall record to 5-3 and their district record to 4-3.
Against Central Private, the Cougars were led by Grant Melancon who recorded his first hat trick of the season with three goals. He also contributed with an assist. Trent Nettles and Jonas Ragues had a goal apiece.
On Friday the Cougars battled the Veritas Lions, and BA controlled the game from the opening kickoff and led 2-0 at halftime. The Cougars added two more goals in the second half for the final score of 4-0.
On offense the Cougars were led by Melancon with a goal and two assists. Nettles, Zach Dickerson and Parker Myrick also contributed a goal apiece. The defense recorded their third shutout of the season.
The defense was lead by sweeper Jordan Lea, goalkeeper Lamar Lang, Trent Cannon, Newt Riley and Cody Thornhill.
The Cougars are in action on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. for a JV and Varsity game against Copiah Academy at Brookhaven Academy.
