Funeral services for Jimmy Max Hux of Brookhaven are 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Moak’s Creek Baptist Church with burial in Moak’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Hux, 75, died Jan. 13, 2014, at his residence. He was born to Milton E. Hux and Golda Wallace Hux on Nov. 3, 1938.

Mr. Hux was a graduate of Johnston Station High School in 1956 and then continued his education at Mississippi Southern College (University of Southern Mississippi), earning a bachelor’s degree in 1960. He then received his master’s degree in 1967 from Mississippi College.

He began his teaching career at Carter’s Creek High School in 1960 where he taught math and coached basketball. Later, he taught math and coached basketball at Roxie High School in Roxie and at Enterprise Attendance Center and taught math at Bogue Chitto Attendance Center. He served as principal at Bogue Chitto of four years. He also worked at the central office for the Lincoln County schools and ended his teaching career at Bogue Chitto where he retired in 1991.

He was a lifelong member of Moak’s Creek Baptist Church where he served as the Sunday school superintendent and taught Sunday school for many years.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Barbara S. Hux; his son, Daniel C. Hux, and wife Stephanie; his daughter, Lisa H. Copeland, and husband, Barry; brother, Michael R. Hux, and wife, Merle. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Patrick, James and Jessica Copeland and Logan and Alana Hux with three honorary grandchildren, Shelby Ann, Makayla and Maddie Miller, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Cecil Hubbard Scholarship Fund (Lincoln Baptist Association) or Moak’s Creek Baptist Church.
