Five Brookhaven players bag Region 3-5A honors

The Brookhaven Panthers had five players to make the All-Region 3-5A offensive and defensive teams. The players were wide receiver Shuntez Smith, offensive lineman Anthony Wilson and Fred Trevillion as the most versatile athlete on the offensive team. On defense, Ty Hill and Leo Lewis at linebacker were chosen.
Wayne County captured two huge honors in the selection. DeJarvis Chambers claimed the overall Most Valuable Player award in Region 3-5A. Benito Jones secured the Most Valuable Defensive Player honors. Laurel’s Octavius Cooley was selected as the Most Valuable Offensive Player.
The coaches from the Region 3-5A classification gather together and vote on the players selected for the teams.
Smith, (5-10, 165, sr.) played a key role in Ole Brook’s offensive game plan as he was the second leading receiver with 415 yards receiving on 24 receptions. He also contributed 202 yards rushing on six carries.
Wilson, (5-10, 275, sr.) was one of the senior leaders that played a huge part in Brookhaven’s offensive line. His duties were to protect the quarterback and work hard to create running lanes for the Panthers’ running backs.
Trevillion, (6-3, 195, sr.) was the team captain on the field as quarterback. He completed 99 out of 218 passes for 1,668 yards and rushed for 650 yards on 91 carries.
Hill, (6-1, 210, sr.) was the defensive leader for Ole Brook with 118 total tackles, 89 were solo tackles and provided four sack a game
Lewis (6-2, 215, jr.) was the second leading tackler in the bash-brother duo as he contributed 100 total tackles on the season which 71 were solo tackles and also had four sacks a game.
