MEADVILLE – The high-flying McComb Tigers turned Franklin County Arena into their own personal playground Tuesday night as the Tigers roared to a 91-50 win over the FC Bulldogs to remain undefeated.

In the girls’ game, FCHS won 37-31.

The Tigers (9-0) ran out to a 32-18 lead in the first half, as senior guard Antonio Johnson displayed his crafty play with steals and assists.

“We really didn’t start the game out the way we finished it,” said Tigers longtime boys coach Hilton Harrell. “We had a sub-par first quarter but we played our game in the second quarter.”

McComb outscored the Bulldogs 59-32 in the second half, with senior forward Stacey Mack scoring 10 of his game high 16 points in the quarter with eight coming off dunks.

“Stacey had a good fourth quarter,” added Harrell. “Our team as a whole has to play the entire game like we played the fourth quarter.”

Mack, who has offers from La. Tech, SE Louisiana, Lasalle and UNO was automatic in the paint during most of the second half as he used his 6-7, 215-pound frame to overwhelm the Bulldogs.

“We let the game get away from us in the second quarter and it carried over to the second half,” said Bulldogs head basketball coach Rickey O’Quinn Jr. “McComb has a good team, they have a deep bench and the Mack kid is a strong and athletic player.”

Mack ended with 16 points and 12 rebounds, plus two blocked shots. Johnson added 16 points, six assists and three steals. LeDerrius Simmons added 12 points and four assists.

For the Bulldogs (0-7), Delvante White had 13 points. Six-foot-six senior center Chris Boss had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Bulldogs (3-4) got a game high 12 points from junior guard Brianta O’Quinn. TaDayla Hunt added 10 points and seven boards for FC.

For McComb, Jamica White had 11 points.
