Funeral services celebrating the life of Charlie Adams of Ruth are 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, at Powell’s Grove Pentecostal Church in Jayess with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Adams, 66, died Dec. 10, 2013, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. He was born on Dec. 2, 1947, to Robert L. Adams and Eva Nell Wallace Adams.

He was the owner of Adams Dozer Service.

He was a true lover of nature, and passed many enjoyable hours in outdoor activities such as fishing, forestry, carpentry and landscaping. He had a great respect for the land and was a meticulous conservationist who always sought to preserve and improve it. He was a man with a vision, whose life’s work was spent in helping others realize their own. Despite a 39-year grueling struggle with illness, his health issues only served to underline his tremendous motivation and strength of spirit.

As a faithful and active member of Powell’s Grove United Pentecostal Church, he joyfully cultivated an extensive knowledge of the scriptures over many years, and was always eager to share with and minister to others. He also never tired of singing his favorite gospel songs with great conviction and fervor.

Above all, he was immeasurably loved by so many, and touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with indelibly. He was a loving provider and father whose signature cowboy boots will never be filled. He will live on forever in the thoughts and hearts of all who knew him and who look forward eagerly to the day we will see him again.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

His survivors include his devoted wife of 45 years, Tina Reid Adams. He was a loving and proud father to four daughters – Phaedra Dunn of Ruth; Donya Ballard and husband Walton of Jayess; Charlyn Davis and husband Darren of Ruth; Charlee Laine Adams of Covington, La.; six grandchildren, Malaine, Mallory and Madilyn Ard, Adara and Karlie Davis and William Dunn; his brother, Wallace Adams and wife Barbara of Bogue Chitto; and a sister, Carolyn Thornhill and husband Cliff of Summit.
