Funeral services for Dorothy “Dot” Leggett Spencer of Hazlehurst are 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, at Brookhaven Funeral Home, Natchez Drive location, with burial in the Bogue Chitto Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Spencer, 83, died Dec. 4, 2013, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson.
She was a homemaker and member of Hazlehurst United Methodist Church. She was born July 5, 1930, in Lake Como in Jasper County to the late Troy Lee Leggett and Hilma Holder Leggett.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Earl Leggett and Charles Bennett Leggett, and one sister, Virginia Lee Leggett.
Mrs. Leggett is survived by her husband, Sidney B. Spencer of Hazlehurst; two sons, Sidney B. Spencer Jr. and his wife, Dee; and Benjamin Troy Spencer, all of Clinton; two daughters, Dorothy Cheryl Spencer of Brandon and Virginia “Nan” Bryant and her husband, Ace, of Hattiesburg; one brother, Roger Dale Leggett; one sister, Betty Nell Bryant; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
