MEADVILLE – Franklin County senior Darrin Wiley turned Homecoming 2014 into his own personal playground Friday night, by scoring touchdowns on both sides of the ball, collecting five tackles, forcing two fumbles, recovering both, and blocking a punt en route to a 52-28 Bulldog win over Crystal Springs.

Wiley, a 6-foot, 250-pound defensive lineman/fullback, blocked a punt and scooped up the ball in the end zone for a score and ran another in on offense from one yard out in the contest.

The win was much needed for the FC Bulldogs to keep their playoff chances alive inside the powerful Region 7-3A race. The Bulldogs moved to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in the division standings with the victory. FC must beat Wesson and Jefferson County to secure the third spot in the division.

Chris Robinson, the Bulldogs senior sparkplug at running back, highlighted the first half with a variety of big plays. Robinson threw a 26-yard scoring strike to Demarrius Tyler and ran in another score from 10 yards out.

Franklin County’s senior QB Malik Moore also showcased his skills by throwing a 20-yard touchdown to Austin Wallace, and an 11-yard touchdown strike to Tyler.

FCHS held a 40-12 lead at halftime.

Bernard Selmon and Courtney Smith each provided touchdown runs for the Bulldogs, while Denzel Allen and Dontavious Felton collected an interception apiece.

Robinson led all rushers with 106 yards rushing on 17 attempts.

Chardarrious Wilson added seven tackles, while Bernard Selmon finished with six hits.

For Crystal Springs, Jeriko Morris provided the Tigers with four touchdowns. Morris finished with 92 yards rushing on 16 carries and two touchdowns. He also returned a kickoff 83 yards for a score and added two touchdown runs of seven and one yards. Morris also caught a touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter of 36 yards from quarterback Jeremy Archie.

The Bulldogs invade Wesson to battle the Cobras next Friday. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
