The Brookhaven Lady Panthers swept the visiting Loyd Star LadyHornets in fastpitch softball action Thursday night. Brookhaven wonthe opener 27-7 and the finale 10-5.

Mandy Vinson (2-0) was the winning pitcher with eightstrikeouts. Dana Coke absorbed the loss.

At the plate, Megan Bateman led the Lady Panthers with ahome run. Chuvaquah Smith drilled three singles. Doubling andsingling was Samantha Boutwell. Kensy Hoff singled twice. AshleySykes and Angela DeLaughter hit safely.

The Lady Hornets got a double from Beth Smith and singlefrom Nikki Hunsucker.

Brookhaven 10, Loyd Star 5

Posting the win was Courtney Fielder (2-0) with sixstrikeouts.. Hunsucker was the loser.

Brittany Smith and Kristina Wallace led the LadyPanthers with a home run apiece. Collecting a pair of singles eachwere Allyson Wallace and Taylor Crane. Renata Allen and JaRhondaMoore singled.

Coke homered for the Lady Hornets. Hunsucker hit asingle.

Brookhaven is schedule to host Lawrence County today atthe Sports Complex weather permitting.
