May cards 76 in 2nd round

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. – Co-Lin’s Corbin May shot a second-round 76 Wednesday in the NJCAA Division II National Golf Championship at the Goose Colony Golf Club. His 2-round total of 69-76-145 left him 9 strokes behind tournament leader David Keenan of Parkland (Ill.) who shot a 2-under par 70 for a 2-round total of 66-70-136 and a 3-stroke lead. In second place is Brandon Hoelzer of Owens (Oh.) with a 2-round total of 70-69-139. Jake Argento and Will Twitty, both of South Mountain (Ariz.) ar tied for third at 140. Tied for fifth are Andrew Hall and Brad Hawkins of Walters State (Tenn.), Gabe Schiller of Mott (Mich.) and Jake Schneider of Illinois Central at 141. Mississippi Gulf Coast’s Jake Pritchard and Hayes Weathersby have a 2-round total of 143 and are in a 5-way deadlock for 14th. The tournament runs through Friday. In team competition, South Mountain holds a 12-stroke lead over Walters, 565-577. Owens is third at 579. Black Hawk (Ill.) and John A. Logan are tied for fourth at 583 and Gulf Coast is sixth at 587.
