Community can help AJHS in national contest

It’s time for the community to turn on their computers and pointand click their way to helping a Brookhaven school receive nationalrecognition.

Alexander Junior High School is one of five finalists in anational contest recognizing schools for community projects.

Votes can be cast at www.channelone.com for AJHS’ project thatbrought the community together to gather over $100,000 and 1,000volunteers to build Kids Kingdom.

The school receiving the most votes in the Channel One BranchingOut Contest will win the grand prize: a free concert by pop starMichelle Branch.

Multiple votes are allowed, so residents are urged to take a fewminutes to boost AJHS to the top. The winner will be decided Mondayand Branch will surprise the winning school on April 29.

Students say they need all the votes they can get, especiallysince they are competing against much larger schools in SanAntonio, Texas; Sylvania, Ohio; Burney, California; and Tucson,Arizona.

AJHS students came up with idea to build the ultimate city parkin Brookhaven. They helped design the park, raised money and workedon it.
