BA girls visit Simpson

JACKSON – Hillcrest Christian defeated Brookhaven Academy 7-4 Tuesday in fastpitch softball action.
BA travels to Simpson today, starting with a 5 p.m. JV game.
Gracie Self pitched the Hillcrest victory. She struck out 4 batters and walked 1, allowing 8 hits and 7 runs in 6 innings.
“We played a lot better than last time when they beat us 20-0,” said BA coach Kaylin Lofton. “We backed up our pitcher and played good defense. We swung the bats much better. We are improving.”
Sophomore Alex Rae Smith (0K, 2BB)suffered the setback. She allowed 5 hits.
BA was led by Anna Smith who collected 3 singles. Alli Livingston doubled. Anna Grace Covington and Maura Dunaway singled.
Simpson 6, BA 1
In Monday’s game, Allie Anderson pitched Simpson’s victory. She struck out 1 batter and walked none, giving up 7 hits.
Alex Rae Smith (2K, 4BB) absorbed the lose. She allowed 4 hits.
At the plate, Dunaway made history, hitting BA’s first home run out of their new field in the second inning. She also singled.
Allison Barry, Olivia Thornton, Covington, Anna Smith and Livingston singled.
Simpson got a triple and a singled from Abbie Sullivan.
BA 10, Lamar 3
Livingston (1K, 2BB) pitched the victory in Saturday’s Columbia Tournament. She allowed 4 hits.
Barry and Alex Rae Smith singled twice in the win. Livingston doubled. Thornton singled and doubled. Covington singled.
