Gene Douglas Lee, 82, of Monticello, died Saturday, Feb. 19,2011, at Lawrence County Nursing Center in Monticello.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 23,2011, at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello. Burial will be inCalvary Cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday, Feb. 22, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mr. Lee enjoyed computer programming and had a private pilotlicense. He was an amateur radio operator and loved to travel. Healso coached girls softball. Mr. Lee loved to sing and entertainand playing his guitar. He especially loved to sing to his wife,Christine. He was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather andgreat-grandfather. He was an active member of Calvary BaptistChurch in Silver Creek. He was a charter member of Ferguson FederalCredit Union and was on the board of directors of Lawrence CountyAcademy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Otto Knox Lee; his mother,Eva Aline Watson Lee; and his wife, Christine L. Lee.
Survivors include his son, Patrick M. Lee of Key West, Fla.,Michael Douglas Lee of Wiggins, and Jason Keith Lee and wife,Barbara of Ocean Springs; his daughters, Sherry Lee Holm ofVictoria, Texas, and Lisa Rochelle Lee Nix and husband, Charlie ofEllisville; his sisters, Betty Lee Hughes of Birmingham, Ala., andEvelyn Lee Sirmon of Georgiana, Ala.; his five grandchildren andsix great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brantley Pace for his many yearsof care and friendship for our father; the nurses and staff ofLawrence County Hospital and Lawrence County Nursing Center; andespecially Hospice Ministries of Brookhaven.
