Tickets for the second annual Girls’ Night Out shopping event went on sale Thursday and event organizers said the night is sure to be better than last year’s.
“This is the kickoff event to the summer sales,” said Angie Warren, retail committee chairwoman at the chamber of commerce. “It’s a bargain hunter’s dream.”
Girls’ Night Out will be Thursday, June 28, from 4 – 10 p.m., and so far more than 30 businesses have signed up. Every store will have one-day only sales and about 60 door prizes will be given out that night.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. All ticket holders get a T-shirt, a boxed dinner from Broma’s and a chance at door prizes.
The event kicks off at Bank of Brookhaven with music from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. and T-shirts and dinner can be picked up there from 4 – 6 p.m. Brookhaven Monument will host an ice cream social from 8 – 10 p.m.
Last year about 750 people participated in the event, but Warren said she’d “be surprised if we don’t hit 1,500 this year.”
Warren said the event is the perfect companion to the Christmas open house and it also helps retailers.
“This is [another] time for women to get out and socially shop,” she said. “And it’s a way to help us move out merchandise and generate revenue.”
Some of the new stores participating this year include Dazzling Dance Wear, Beyond the Rainbow and J. Allan’s.
“We’re really excited about it,” said Katie Nations, manager at J. Allan’s. “It’s something we’ve been looking forward to since we opened last September.”
Tickets for Girls Night Out can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce or at any of the participating retailers.
