Services for Minnie Marie Davis Pickering will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, at Pleasant Ridge Pentecostal Church, with interment in the Newell cemetery. Visitation is from 5 until 9 p.m. Thursday evening, Aug. 15, at the church. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pickering, 84, of Wesson, passed away Aug. 13, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Lincoln County on Dec. 9, 1928 to George Cleveland Davis and Ivy Evelyn Britt.

Minnie was a Sunday School teacher for over 25 years and past youth director for Pleasant Ridge Pentecostal Church. She was an avid Bible reader, which she read through aloud 25-plus times. She also was a retired seamstress for the Garment Factory.

Preceding her in death were her son, Roy Lynnes Pickering; father and stepmother, George Davis and Nellie Mae Boggs Davis; her mother, Ivy Evelyn Britt; her brothers, Jesse Cleveland Davis and Robert Lindsey Davis.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Roy Lee Pickering; son, Garry Marlon Pickering and wife, Rosemary; daughter, Theresa Ann Pickering Williams and husband, Dempsey; and two sisters, Peggy Nell Davis Rushing and Addie Mae Davis. She was also survived by four grandchildren, Rebecca Gerae’ Pickering Fuller and husband, John, Garry LaRon Pickering and wife, Cindy, Talita Michelle Williams Ruble and husband, Michael, and Dempsey LaDale Williams and wife, Kristen; and seven great-grandchildren, Joshua John Morris Fuller, Logan Ted Fuller, Garrin Hoyt Fuller, Madison Lee Williams, Jaxson Dean Williams, Laurie Jayne Williams and Cassady Elizabeth Pickering.
