VICKSBURG – Warren Central’s All-State dynamic duo of Sha’KaylaCaples and Karnina Bunch put on a shooting clinic Saturdayafternoon in the Red Carpet Basketball Classic, at the VicksburgHigh Gym. The pair combined for 49 points, 17 rebounds and 8assists; as the Lady Vikings torched the Brookhaven Lady Panthers66-40.

Brookhaven returned to the friendly confines of Sinclair GymFriday night, hosting 6-4A foe Port Gibson.

Warren Central 66, Brookhaven 40

Brookhaven and Warren Central were trying to get a feel for eachother’s team concept. Amber Dickey’s trey, with 1 minute left inthe opening frame, saw the scoreboard deadlocked at 12-all. For thenext 12 minutes, the Lady Panthers did not score from the floor orthe charity stripe.

The Lady Vikings (20-2) went on an astounding 33-0 scoringspurt, thanks in part to the shooting efforts of Caples and Bunch.Caples, a 5-foot-11 Dandy Dozen senior forward, had 16 points and10 rebounds in the spree. Bunch, a 5-foot-4 shooting guard, tossedin 13 points, as Warren Central held a 35-12 lead at halftime.

Caples finished the game with 26 points, 15 rebounds and 3assists, while Bunch followed with 23 points, 2 rebounds and 5assists for head coach Donny Fuller.

Dickey’s basket with 5:32 in the third was the Lady Panthersfirst points in the game, since late in the first. Dickey finishedthe game with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

Lending support for Ole Brook head coach Freda Craft were KearraCollins with a team-high 15 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists.Shareeka Hill led off the backboards with 12 rebounds, whileMaleysia Burnett had 5.

The Lady Panthers were outrebounded by the Lady Vikings 57-38.Brookhaven shot 20 percent (15 of 74) from the floor, including a 7of 30 clip from beyond the 3-point arc, and 3 of 10 from the freethrow line.

Both teams committed only 8 turnovers.
