Faculty and students at Wesson Attendance Center were startledMonday morning when they arrived at the school to find paintedbuses and sticky, bubbling floors in the high school wing, lawenforcement authorities said.

Damage in the high school wing included a sticky mixture-believed to be sugar and flour wet with water – along twohallways, another hallway with the mixture wet with milk, overflowed toilets in the restrooms and Vaseline “on every doorhandle in the building,” said Wesson Police Department officer RyanEverett.

They also discovered that orange latex paint had been used tocover the tires of every bus, he said. In addition, the black trimand numbers had been painted over on two of the buses.

“It looks like they tried to cover the numbers, but it was stillwet when the driver got there, so he got a rag and tried to wipe itoff,” Everett said. “It still had an orange tint to it, but thenumbers are visible.”

Everett said investigators believe the vandalism was done “inthe wee hours of Sunday morning” and that the culprits entered thebuilding through classroom windows.

“I did find some unlocked windows,” Everett said. “There was nosign of forced entry.”

Investigators are trying to determine how many people wereinvolved in the vandalism.

“We do believe it was definitely more than one,” Everett said.”There was too much done for it not to be.”

Principal Billy O. Britt would not comment on the incident.

Everett said the location of the vandalism in the high schoolwing and the end-of-year timing would indicate that it could be aprank, but investigators have not ruled anything out.

“I feel they were pulling a prank, but it could have beendangerous to older or pregnant teachers who could have slipped andit is probably going to be very expensive (to clean up),” hesaid.

The officer urged anyone with information on the incident tocall the Wesson Police Department at (601) 643-2211.
