Services for Robert Wayne Cupit of Baton Rouge, La., are 2 p.m.,Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East with burial inHillcrest Memorial Gardens. A Masonic service will be held at 6p.m. today at the funeral home.
Visitation is today from 4-9 p.m., and Wednesday from 11 a.m.until 2 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Cupit, 62, died Feb. 14, 2003. He was a native of Liberty,and had lived in Baton Rouge since 1957.
He was a retired major from the Baton Rouge City PoliceDepartment with 32 years service. He was employed by the LouisianaState Department of Elections. He was a 32nd degree Mason and amember of Northeast Lodge 435, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry andAcacia Temple. He was past president of the Baton Rouge andLouisiana State Lodges of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was acharter member and deacon of Circle Baptist Church in Baker. He wasa member of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church. He was an avid golferand hunter.
Preceding him in death were his father, John E. Cupit Sr.; andhis mother, Mary Scybist.
Survivors are his wife of 35 years, Dolly Cupit; his son, KevinW. Cupit of Baton Rouge; his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and KeithPhillips of Slaughter, La.; his mother-in-law, Lillian Lambert ofBaton Rouge; his step-mother, Mary Cupit of Liberty; his brothersand sisters-in-law, John E. and Genie Cupit of Zachary, La., Allenand Viola Cupit of Bogue Chitto, Jerry Cupit of Bogue Chitto,Murray and Freda Cupit of Liberty, Michael B. and Tamara Cupit ofBrookhaven, and James and Shirley Cupit of Clinton; and hisgrandchildren, Emily and Trevor Cupit and Carter Phillips.
Pallbearers will be his brothers. Honorary pallbearers will beJ.B. Cupit, Dave Cupit, Manuel Calamia, David Denicola, Barney RaySmith, Joe Lambert, Ray Smith, Keith Phillips, Jim Rainwater, JerryPerrero, Larry Sullivan and David Brisbane.
