Vollie Franklin

Services for Vollie Franklin, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Saturday, Aug. 11, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on North JacksonStreet with burial in Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery inLincoln County.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Franklin, 86, died Aug. 9, 2007, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on March 5, 1921, to JamesThomas Franklin and Ruth Laird Franklin.

He was retired, having worked for most of his career at KeystoneSeneca Wire Cloth Co., in Brookhaven. He was a United States MarineVeteran of World War II, and served in the South Pacific withengagements in the New Georgia Operation, which led to theconsolidation of the Solomon Islands. He was a lifetime member ofthe Masons. He was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, James T.Franklin Jr.; and his sisters, Ethel Harris, Edith Dickerson, VeraVickery, Donis Gardner and Margaret Landry.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Lou Franklin; his daughter, LindaMcCullough and husband Tommy, of Brookhaven; his sons, TommyFranklin, of Brookhaven, and David Franklin, of Ocean Springs; hissisters, Emma Breaux, Paula Walker and Bertille Johnson, all ofBrookhaven; his five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; andscores of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Lance James, Dusty White, Geoffery Johnson,Keith Johnson, Shane McCullough and Scott Franklin.

Charles Edward Harris

Services for Charles Edward Harris, of Jackson, are 11 a.m.Saturday, Aug. 11, at Rosehill Missionary Baptist Church inBrookhaven with burial in the church cemetery. Williams Mortuary isin charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 1 until 4 p.m. at the funeral home,with family hour from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Harris, 25, died Aug. 1, 2007, in Jackson. He was born inLincoln County on Nov. 7, 1981, to Charles Edward Williams and RebaHarris Rawls.

He had attended Brookhaven High School.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents; his aunts, RosieLee Harris and Clemetine Harris.

Survivors are his mother, Reba Harris Rawls and her husbandJames, of Brookhaven; his father, Charles Edward Williams, ofMcComb; his sisters, Shasta Harris and Shaka Harris, both ofBrookhaven; his devoted friend, Vanity Rash, of Jackson; his niece;two nephews; nine uncles; eight aunts; and other relatives andfriends.

Mildred Buie Hubbard

Services for Mildred Buie Hubbard, of Baton Rouge, La., are noonon Monday, Aug. 13, at Winnfield Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, withburial in Winnfield Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday from 10 a.m. until noon at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Hubbard, 83, died Aug. 1, 2007, at Mercy General Hospitalin Sacramento, Calif. She was born on July 26, 1924, to Jeff Buieand Irene Smith Buie.

She was retired from Baton Rouge General Hospital.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her son, ReginaldMcAllister; and her brother, Arthur Buie.

Survivors are her husband, Joe Hubbard, of Baton Rouge; hersons, James McAllister, of Portland, Ore., Ester McAllister, of NewOrleans, La., Jarvis McAllister, of Sacramento, and GodfreyMcAllister, of Vancouver, Wash.; her daughter, Darline McAllister,of Elk Grove, Calif.; her sister, Bernice Brown, of Vallejo,Calif.; and her 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Billy Gene Tolar

Services for Billy Gene Tolar, of Anguilla, are 11 a.m.Saturday, Aug. 11, at Anguilla United Methodist Church with burialin Straight Bayou Cemetery. Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Forkis in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Tolar, 80, died Aug. 8, 2007, at his residence.

He was a lifelong resident of Sharkey County. He was retiredfrom Southern Natural Gas Co. He was a veteran of World War II. Hewas a member of the Masonic Lodge in Rolling Fork.

Preceding him in death were his parents, N.C. and Clara Tolar;his sister, Gertrude Solomon; and his brothers, Monroe Tolar andN.C. Tolar Jr.

Survivors are his wife, Doris W. Tolar, of Anguilla; hisdaughters, Becky Dixon, of Brookhaven, and Christine Muirhead, ofKenton, Tenn.; his stepdaughters, Jeanie Melton and Julia A.Wansley, both of Delta City; his stepsons, Ray Watson, of DeltaCity, and Jack Wansley, of Brandon; his three grandchildren andfour stepgrandchildren.
