Mrs. Cowart, 69, died Aug. 26, 2000, of heart failure at King’sDaughters Medical Center. She was born in Pike County on April 4,1931, to John William “Pat” Beck Sr. and Lettie Mae Smith Beck.

She was retired from Payless Shoes. She was a member of BethelPrimitive Baptist Church in Baton Rouge.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her sister, InaMoak.

Survivors are her husband, George E. Cowart of Brookhaven; hersons, John Edgar “Eddie” Cowart of Prairieville, La., and GeorgeRanley “Jake” Cowart of Brookhaven; her daughters, Georgia “Ann”Reeves of Bogue Chitto and Tammy Jeanne Haley of Brookhaven; herbrothers, John William Beck Jr. of Brandon and Frank Fulton Beck ofStedman, Texas; her sisters, Irene Smith of McCall Creek, PearlLowery of Summit, and Mildred Anderson of Lake Livingston, Texas;eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a host ofnieces and nephews.

Patrycia W. “Pat” Hardin

Services for Patrycia W. “Pat” Hardin of Southaven, and formerlyof Brookhaven, are 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Trinity BaptistChurch with burial in Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is Monday, Aug. 28, from 6-8 p.m. at Twin OaksFuneral Home.

Mrs. Hardin, 74, died Aug. 26, 2000, of cancer at BaptistMemorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church,where she was a member of the Whomsoever Sunday School Class andthe WMU. She was a member of the United Daughters of theConfederacy, Varina Howell Davis Chapter. She was the formerpresident and current vice-president of the Baptist DeSoto HospitalVolunteers.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Gardner Wilson andElsie Barge Hennington.

Survivors are her husband, Paul J. Hardin of Southaven; her son,George G. Guess of San Diego, Calif.; her daughters, Charlotte G.Bennett of Ocean Springs, Glenda M. Hardin of Debary, Fla., andPaula Berry of Edgemont, Ark.; and four grandchildren and onegreat-granddaughter.

Marshall Edgar Smith

Services for Marshall Edgar Smith of Smithdale are 2 p.m.,Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with burial inthe church cemetery.

Visitation is Monday, Aug. 28, from 5-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9a.m. until 1 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith, 83, died Aug. 26, 2000, of heart failure atUniversity Hospital in Jackson. He was born in Franklin County onSept. 29, 1916, to Walter L. Smith and Mae Smith Smith. Hegraduated from Franklin County High School in 1932.

He was retired from Chevron Oil Company, where he was a deliverysalesman for 40 years. He was a member of Pleasant Grove BaptistChurch. He was a veteran of WWII.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Olga Stancil Smith of Smithdale; hisdaughter, Jan Busby of McComb; his brothers, Carroll Smith of BogueChitto, Eldon P. Smith of Brookhaven, David L. Smith of Madison,and George T. Smith of Groves, Texas; his sisters, Fannie LeeLewis, Helen Louise Smith, and Nelda Mae Wallace, all of BogueChitto; his grandchildren, Julie Elizabeth Busby of Hattiesburg andJill Elise Busby of Summit; and a host of nieces, nephews, andfriends.

William Henry Smith

Services for William Henry Smith of Brookhaven are 3 p.m.,Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Damascus M.B. Church with burial inHillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday, Aug. 29, from noon until 7 p.m. withfamily hour from 7-8 p.m. at Williams Mortuary.

Mr. Smith, 58, died Aug. 25, 2000, at his residence. He was bornin Lincoln County on April 16, 1942, to Fred A. Smith and AlmaeSmith. He was a 1961 graduate of Alexander High School.

He was a retired truck driver. He was a member of Damascus M.B.Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Anthony LamontSmith; and his brother, Watt Smith.

Survivors are his wife, Bettie Littleton Smith of Brookhaven;his brother, James E. Smith of Brookhaven; and his sister, YvonneHodge of Lynwood, Calif.
