Services for James Edwin Phillips of Jackson are 10 a.m.,Friday, Sept. 13, at Pinelake Baptist Church with burial inLakewood Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Chapel inJackson and Friday from 9 a.m. until service time at thechurch.
Mr. Phillips, 81, died Sept. 10, 2002, at River Oaks Hospital.He was born in Rome, Miss., on March 31, 1921, to Joseph A. andNancy Donnie Phillips.
He had been employed with the federal government in Washington,D.C. He was retired from the Clarion Ledger advertising department.He had been a member of Van Winkle Methodist Church and was amember of Pinelake Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran of WWIIand the Korean Conflict. He was a volunteer at the V.A. Hospital.He was a past master of Forest Hill Masonic Lodge. He served asscout master of Troop 337 at Forest Hill Methodist Church, where hereceived the Order of the Arrow and the Silver Beaver.
Survivors are his wife, Katie Phillips; his daughters, MargaretJ. Dale of Jackson, Susan L. Mann of Homassa Springs, Fla., andCathy L. Hedberg of Beverly Hills, Fla.; his son, James A. Phillipsof Brookhaven; his sister, Katherine Wiley of Houston, Texas; hisstepsons, Carlos D. Ingram of Rayville, La., Stephen Ingram ofOxford, and Richard Ingram of Brandon; his stepdaughters, TheresaHarris of Bossier City, La., Kathy Meyer of Broken Arrow, Okla.,and Sherrell Hallguist of New Orleans; and seven grandchildren and10 great-grandchildren.
