Funeral services for retired Tech. Sgt. Walter Charles Anton, ofSan Antonio, Texas, and formerly of Ruth, are 2 p.m. on Saturday,Dec. 4, at Bogue Chitto Woods Missionary Baptist Church in Summit,with burial in the church cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in chargeof arrangements.
Visitation is Friday from 1 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home, withfamily hour from 6 until 7 p.m.
Mr. Anton, 51, died Nov. 25, 2010, in Laredo, Texas. He was born inRuth on April 21, 1959.
He was a 1977 graduate of Enterprise High School. He was employedwith Aerotech as a jet engine mechanic and was a professor ofaeronautics with St. Phillips College in San Antonio. He was aveteran of the United States Air Force, retired after 20 years ofservice with the rank of technical sergeant. He was a member ofNorthwest Park Baptist Church in San Antonio.
Preceding him in death were his father, Sam Anton; his brother,Sammie Anton; his nephew, Darrell Anton; and his stepfather,Rodolph Quinn.
Survivors are his mother, Nicey Anton, of Brookhaven; hisdaughters, Nicey Priestley and husband Clayton, and ChristinaAnton, all of San Antonio; his brother, Roosevelt Johnson of Osyka;his sisters, Lizzie Anton and Ollie Butler and husband Tom, all ofRuth; his stepbrother, Charles Quinn of Summit; his stepsister,Maggie Jenkins of Summit; his grandchildren, Azaria Priestley,Gianna Priestley and Moriah Priestley, all of San Antonio; and ahost of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
