Brian Eby knows what is required to be successful on thebaseball field. The new Enterprise coach wants to implant that kindof winning attitude on the football team as an assistant andspecial teams coach.

Eby, 28, is a Louisiana native. He graduated from St. John’sHigh School of Plaquemine, La. in 1994. He was a standoutcenterfielder at Southwest Mississippi Community College andWilliam Carey College. He graduated with a degree inpsychology.

“I like the size of the school here at Enterprise,” said Eby. “Ilike the community support, too. The kids are working hard inpractice.”

Eby will teach history and health at Enterprise. He’ll alsoserve as assistant baseball coach to Chris Smith.

Eby was a minor league baseball player before starting hiscoaching career. He coached at St. John’s and Pine Hills Academy inGloster. He spent 2003 playing in a minor league baseball leaguebased in North Dakota.

“I played for championship programs in high school and college,”said Eby. “I want to instill that kind of positive attitude inthese players. They are capable of becoming champions.”

In football, Eby is working on new head coach Mac Bezet’s staff.Offensive coordinator Roe Burns is another newcomer to the staff.Smith helped coach the Yellow Jackets last season when theyfinished 2-9.

Eby is married to the former Leigh Spring of Franklin County.They are expecting their first child in October.
