Scott F. Hailey
Scott F. Hailey went peacefully home to his Heavenly Father andrejoined his loving wife on Nov. 27, 2007, at his home. Visitationwill be at Stringer Family Funeral Services in Hazlehurst from 5until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, and funeral services will be at 11 a.m.on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at Pleasant Valley United MethodistChurch with burial in the Sylvarena Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was born on Jan, 14, 1924, the youngest of five children ofMattie Edwards and Rankin M. Hailey. He was a lifelong resident ofCopiah County, except for 20 years when he lived and worked inAbilene, Texas. Mr. Hailey was an independent oil and gas producerin Texas and Oklahoma. His endeavors took him to many countriesallowing him to rise to the top of his profession. He was wellrespected by his peers.
He was a lifelong member of Pleasant Valley United MethodistChurch. He was also a member of the Copiah-Lincoln Institute ofLearning in Retirement and the Fifty-Plus Club. He was a kind andgentle man whose love of God and family, and concern for his fellowman were evident to all who knew him. He was easily recognized byhis friendly smile and signature cowboy hat.
Mr. Hailey was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, LoyceBell Hailey; his parents; two sisters; and two brothers.
He is survived by one son, Dale Hailey; three daughters, Sharronand husband Robert Baird, Rita and husband Tom Burks and Jo AnnHailey; seven grandchildren, Corey Hailey, Scottie Diamond, BoHailey, Shelley Milligan, Chip Adams, Wyler Burks and HaileyPhillips; and five great-grandchildren, Cooper Barlow, ConnerDiamond, Justin Hailey, and Meg and Lillie Milligan.
Ron C. Herrington
Services for Ron C. Herrington, of Brookhaven, were held at 11a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on NatchezDrive with burial in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in BogueChitto.
Mr. Herrington, 39, died Nov. 26, 2007, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. He was born in Brookhaven on March 12, 1968, toLaRon Herrington and Rebecca D. McCaffrey Burnett.
He was disabled. He was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his paternal and maternalgrandparents.
Survivors are his mother, Rebecca D. Burnett and husband Leroy,of Brookhaven; his father, LaRon Herrington, of Brookhaven; hisson, James Christian and daughter, Olivia Ann, both of Jackson; hisbrother, Sean C. Herrington, of Brookhaven; his special aunt,Earlene Smith, of Brookhaven; his nephew, Caleb Herrington, ofBrookhaven; his fiancee, Denise White, of Brookhaven; and severalother aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dorothy Ballard Luter
Services for Dorothy Ballard Luter, of Prairieville, La., willbe held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, at Wilson Funeral HomeChapel in Monticello with burial in Elliot Cemetery inTylertown.
Visitation is on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of theservice at the funeral home.
Mrs. Luter, 79, died Nov. 26, 2007, at her residence. She wasborn on Aug. 12, 1928, to James Berry Ballard and Bessie ThamesBallard.
She was a homemaker.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Hyman H.Luter Sr.; and her son, Ronnie Luter.
Survivors are her sons, Jewell Luter, of Prairieville, HymanLuter Jr., of Watson, La., and William Luter, of Prairieville; herdaughters, Charlotte Hayward, of Prairieville, and Natalie Hubbard,of Watson; her brother, Charles Ballard, of New Roads, La., hersister, Cloyce Jarreau, of Baker, La.; and her 13 grandchildren and11 great-grandchildren.
