Five West Lincoln juvenile students have been identified as thevandals who struck West Lincoln Attendance Center Thursdaynight.
The vandals “rolled” the school with toilet paper and damaged a$7,000 copier, according to Steve Rushing, an investigator with theLincoln County Sheriff’s Office and a Lincoln County Public SchoolBoard member.
Charges on the students, all seniors, have not been filed,Rushing said, because the district and the students’ parents areworking together to solve the problem.
A copy machine received the only significant damage in the raid,Rushing said, and it can be repaired.
“The parents have agreed to pay for the damages to the copier,”he said.
Charges may be filed at a later date, Rushing said, if thedistrict’s board of trustees are not satisfied with the results oftheir negotiations with the parents.
Those charges would be filed in Youth Court because of the ageof the vandals and the non-violent nature of the crime, saidSheriff Lynn Boyte.
The school board will discuss appropriate disciplinary actionduring Monday night’s board meeting.
