Co-Lin takes two from East Central

WESSON — The Co-Lin Wolves wrapped up their season Saturdayafternoon at Sullivan Field with a big pair of wins over the EastCentral Community College Warriors. Co-Lin won the opener 10-0 infive innings and the finale 9-4 in seven.
The Wolves, coached by Keith Case, finish the season with a25-22 record. The Warriors are 13-31.
The MACJC state tournament starts next week at Meridian, theCentral Divison champion. Southwest and Gulf Coast are representingthe South Division.
Case’s Wolves were 14-3 against Central and North Divisionopponents. They were 3-11 in the talent-laden South Divison
Co-Lin 10, East Central 0
Co-Lin’s Derrick Thompson (6-5) pitched a 2-hitter with 5strikeouts and no walks. Bud Loper absorbed the loss.
“It was a good game,” said Case. “Derrick came out and set thetone. It was a good effort by us.”
Garrett Jones powered the Wolves with a home run and a single.Todd Siders doubled and singled. Collecting two singles was JoelHurt. Ryan Williams and Ryan Hobbs followed with with a singleapiece.
Co-Lin 9, East Central 4
Matthew Tubbs (3-2) collected the victory with 5 strikeouts, 1walk, and 2 runs allowed on 6 hits. Justin Smith took over in thefourth and got the save with 5 strikeouts, 1 walk, 4 hits and 2runs allowed.
Co-Lin jumped on East Central 3-0 in the first inning and led8-1 in the second.
“We were able to score early, ” said Case. “We played a lot ofpeople.”
Hurt and Jones ripped a pair of singles apiece for the Wolves.Matthew Schexnayder, Dane Orders and Williams also hit safely.
