Joy Ann Schmidt Chandler
Services for Joy Ann Schmidt Chandler, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Monday, March 26, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel withburial in Riverwood Memorial Park.
Visitation is Monday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Riverwood.
Mrs. Chandler, 62, died March 24, 2007, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. She was born on Oct. 4, 1944, to Emile J. Schmidtand Rita M. Nobel Schmidt.
She was retired. She was a member of St. Francis of AssisiCatholic Church in Brookhaven.
Preceding her in death was her father.
Survivors are her mother; her husband, Clarence John ChandlerIII; her son, Frank E. Bradley; her daughter, Diana B. Mezzanares;her brother, William E. Schmidt; and two grandchildren, Ashley andEmily Mezzanares.
Fredrick Charles Collins
Services for Frederick Charles Collins, of Las Vegas, Nev., are3 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church inMonroe with burial in St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Cemeteryin Quentin. Marshall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Sunday at New Bethel Church from 1 p.m. until thetime of the service.
Mr. Collins, 23, died March 18, 2007. He was born in Brookhavenon July 6, 1983, to Fred and Carolyn Coleman Collins.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his paternalgrandparents, Fred and Annie Ruth Collins; and his maternalgrandparents, Phillip Campbell and Clara Coleman.
Survivors are his daughter, Ciarra Collins, of Las Vegas; hissister and mother figure, Lisa Coleman Adams, of Quentin; fourbrothers, Donnie Dillon, of Lafayette, La., Darryl Coleman, ofYuma, Ariz., Jamie Collins, of Quentin, and Phillip “Blackie”Coleman, of Bude; and many other relatives and friends.
Edgar Earl Herrington
Services for Edgar Earl Herrington, of Sontag, are 2 p.m.Sunday, March 25, at Nola Baptist Church with burial in the churchcemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Herrington, 73, died March 23, 2007, at the Lawrence CountyHospital. He was born in Lawrence County on April 16, 1933, toAlbert Earl Herrington and Virgie Mae May Herrington.
He was a retired crane operator with Penrod Drilling Co. He wasa member of Nola Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two daughters, BrendaLou Herrington and Mary Fae Rushton; and a brother, JamesHerrington.
Survivors are his wife, Shirley Armstrong Herrington; hisdaughters, Lisa Vincent, of Sontag; and Janet Hutchins, of CarenCrow, La.; his brother, Josheph Herrington, of Pearl; his sister,Carolyn White, of Denham Springs, La.; his grandchildren, MichaelH. Thames, Shane Harris, Samantha C. Harris and Crystal L. Harris;and seven great-grandchildren.
Mildred Nell Wactor
Graveside services for Mildred Nell Wactor, of Jackson, are 3p.m. Sunday, March 25, at Bogue Chitto Cemetery. Harrigill FuneralHome is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wactor, 90, died March 23, 2007, at Lakeland Nursing Homeand Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Lincoln County on Oct.12, 1916, to Sam L. Wactor and Sadie Smith Wactor.
She was a retired office manager. She was a graduate of BogueChitto High School and Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Aftergraduation, she entered the Women’s Army Corps where she achievedthe rank of sergeant.
After her discharge in 1946, she moved to Jackson where sheworked for Jackson Paper Co. and Chevron Oil. With Chevron’srelocation, she moved to New Orleans. After retiring with 30 yearsof service, she returned to Jackson where she was a member of FirstBaptist Church. She was a member of the Esther Sunday School classfor over 50 years. She enjoyed playing bridge and volunteering atthe University of Mississippi Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, JackWactor and Sam Wactor; two sisters, Mavis Reed and Mamie King; aniece, Myra Reed Basden Ritchie; and a great-niece, Tiffani A.Watson.
She is survived by her sister, Hilda W. Conerly, of Jackson.
She was a very special aunt to Pam Kinsey, of Jackson, ChipConerly, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Amy Hart, of Bogue Chitto, and JackLee Hart, of Jackson; and a very special great-aunt to ElizabethDuggar, of Atlanta, Ga., Anna Conerly, of Tuscaloosa, Austin Hartand Nikki Hart, of Bogue Chitto, and Julie Basden, CatherineCarter, and Courtney Speetjens, all of Jackson.
