BA sacks Silliman

CLINTON, La. — Guard Lauren Smith pumped in 21 points and theBrookhaven Academy Lady Cougars cruised to a 69-27 Monday nighttriumph over the Silliman Institute Lady Wildcats. Kelli Byrdchipped in 12 points as the Lady Cougars remained undefeated in 11games.
In the varsity boys game, Jeremy Winborne scored 12 points andJonathan Winborne 10 as the Cougars crushed Silliman 51-32 lastnight.
Brookhaven Academy resumes play Thursday at McComb, meetingParklane Academy for varsity and junior high action.
The Cougars (7-1, 1-0), coached by Dale Watts, raced to a 37-8halftime lead over the Wildcats. They got 9 points and 10 reboundsfrom center Alex Davis. The Winbornes accounted for 11 rebounds, 6by Jeremy.
Guard Alan Gray handed out 5 assists. Gray, Davis and StewartSessums each had 2 steals.
The Lady Cougars (11-0, 1-0) passed their first District 4-AAtest with flying colors. Coach Barry Gray’s girls roared to a 36-19halftime lead. Jessie Altman chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds tothe victory.
Emily Langley dished out 6 steals for the Lady Cougars. Smithcontributed 5 assists and 4 steals. Byrd snared 6 rebounds.
Junior High Action
Eleven points and 11 rebounds by Alex Grant powered the LadyCougars past Silliman 29-12 in the junior high girls game. HollyCase added 6 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Kelli Brady had 7rebounds and 5 points. Sally Allred had 7 rebounds and 3 assists.Grant made 3 steals.
Silliman got 4 points each from Emma Sones and Taylor Tynes.
