BOGUE CHITTO – Dominique Addison said he was surprised by thehonor. Being named The Daily Leader’s Offensive Player ofthe Week is an award Addison earned for his performance in BogueChitto’s 22-17 comeback victory over the Franklin CountyBulldogs.

Bogue Chitto, ranked No. 8 in this week’s Associated PressLittle Ten poll, is unbeaten in two games. The Bobcats overcame a17-6, third-quarter deficit to beat Franklin County.

“Our seniors had a meeting at the start of the second half,”Addison recalled. “We said we had to keep the team up. Even if welost, we would lose with pride.”

Addison’s contribution to the victory was significant. Hecarried the football 20 times for 127 yards and 1 touchdown againsta tough Bulldog defense. He also played strong safety on defensefor the Bobcats.

“I just hit my holes,” said Addison. “The line does most of thework.”

Four senior linemen, right tackle Ernie Johnston, right guardLindsey Jackson, center Ace Wallace and tight end Paul Martin;provide leadership. Also working in the front line are left tackleCaleb McCaffery and left guard Anthony Stevenson.

Addison alternates with Denard Ferguson at tailback. He sawadditional action against Franklin County when Ferguson bruised aknee.

Addison (6-0, 210) is a power runner. Last year he maxed out at265-pounds in the bench press and 465 in the squat. He also playsforward on the basketball team.

Bogue Chitto head football coach Carl Cole said Addison has madedramatic improvement in his skills, due to a devoted work ethic.”Dominique really came in during the summer. He has worked hard toimprove his play. He’s a great athlete. He gets better the more heworks. He gives us a lot of leadership.

“He’s got a little speed to him. We run them between thetackles.” Addison runs a 4.6 40-yard dash.

Addison believes in a big-play offense with quarterback JacobLeggett passing the football. “My favorite play is a pass play. Ilike to move the ball quick.”

Bogue Chitto beat Region 4-1A foe Stringer in its season opener.The Bobcats are aiming for a third straight appearance in the stateplayoffs.

“I hope God keeps blessing us,” said Addison. “I would like togo undefeated. If everybody stays healthy, we could goundefeated.”

Addison is among 12 Bogue Chitto seniors aiming for theirbest-ever campaign.
