Services for Julius Pearl Smith, of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m.Saturday, March 17, at Avery Chapel A.M.E. Church in Brookhavenwith burial in Bogue Chitto Cemetery. Williams Mortuary is incharge of arrangements.
Visitation is Friday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mr. Smith, 76, died March 12, 2007, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born on March 9, 1931, to Frank Smith and OctaviaSmith.
He was a 1951 graduate of Alexander High School and alsoattended Prentiss Institute. He was a veteran of the United StatesArmy. He was retired from Jones Lumber Co., and Lincoln Lumber Co.He was a self-employed landscaper and salesman of arts and crafts.He had worked as a bus driver for the Pearl River Valley YouthIncentive Program. He was a member of Avery Chapel A.M.E.Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Lasalle Smith;his brother, Frank Smith Jr.; his sister, Laura Carter; hisfather-in-law, Jodie Holmes; his mother-in-law, Cora Holmes; hissister-in-law, Laverne Blackwell; and his brother-in-law, AldolphusHolmes.
Survivors are his wife, Emma Lee Smith, of Brookhaven; hisdaughters, Emelda Thompson and husband Ronnie, and Felissa N.Smith, all of Brookhaven, and Dorothy Williams, of Lumberton; hissons, Larry Rochelle Smith, Stephen Gregory Smith, Julius TerrellSmith, and Phillipe Alou Smith and wife Christine, all ofBrookhaven, Tysha Perez Smith, of Buffalo, N.Y., and Letara Smith,of Las Vegas, Nev.; his sister, Lentee Smith, of Raymond; his 20grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces,nephews, other relatives and friends.
