JEFFERSON DAVIS COUNTY — Authorities are still searching forclues in the shooting death of a Brookhaven woman Wednesday and areholding a man for questioning .

Edgar Smith, 23, of 215 Poplar Street, Brookhaven, was arrestedfor questioning Wednesday night in the death of Latasha White, 22,of Brookhaven, but has not been charged with any crime, accordingto a sheriff’s department spokesperson.

White died of several gun shot wounds to the head sometimeWednesday morning on a rural road near Bassfield, according toJefferson Davis Coroner Greg Blackwell.

“A county road worker who was bush-hogging found her on GoodhopeRoad in her car around noon,” Blackwell said.

The vehicle had apparently been pulled off the road into a driveleading to a pasture, Blackwell said. White was found in thedriver’s seat.

“It’s a rural road. There were no residences in sight,” he said,mentioning how that reduces the chances of an eye witness. to thecrime.

Tyler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, which wereincomplete Friday morning.
