Lady Bears sack Wesson

The host West Lincoln Lady Bears came back with 8 runs in thebottom of the fifth inning and rallied for a big a 10-7 Fridayslowpitch softball win over the winless Wesson Lady Cobras.
Wesson outhit West Lincoln 13-11 at the plate. The Bearscommitted 4 errors to the Cobras 2.
“I was glad to see us fight back because we were lucky to comeout with a win.,” said West Lincoln head coach Andrew Redd. “We’vegot to be more consistent on putting our hits together.”
West Lincoln improved to 7-2 with the win. Wesson fell to 0-6with the loss.
The Cobras led the Bears 4-0 for the first 2 innings. WestLincoln cut the deficit to 4-2 in the third. Wesson pushed its leadto 6-2 with 2 runs in the fourth.
The fifth inning saw the hosts explode for 8 runs on their wayto a 10-6 lead over the snakes. The Cobras added 1 run in thesixth, cutting the deficit to 10-7.
“We played better than we have,” said Wesson coach Hugh Webb.”West Lincoln has a good team.
“My pitchers did a good job. Ann Shelby (Davis) had a gooddefensive game. West Lincoln had a big rally in the fifth and tookadvantage of the walks. But overall, we played a good game.”
For West Lincoln, pitcher Jessica Franklin got the win with 3strikeouts and 4 walks. Marley McQuade fanned 1 batter and walked3; followed by reliever Jessica Haynes with no strikeouts and 3walks.
Powering the Bears at the plate with 2 singles apiece were JulieCase, Keri Easley, Haley Ainsworth and Shelby Lofton. Singling wereHannah Knouse, Laina Laird and Franklin.
The Cobras were sparked on Maddy Rials who had a double and 2singles. Summer Rials doubled and singled. Collecting a pair ofsingles were Dallas Jackson and Davis. Mack Rials, McCardle, LeahGreer and Haynes hit safely.
Junior varsity action
West Lincoln knocked off Wesson 7-5 in the JV game.
Directing the Bears with a triple were Taylor Lofton and MarisaPruski. Katie Mullins doubled and singled. Doubling were TaylorCrews, MaKayla Smith and Kayla Beth Rushing. Karli Herringtonsingled.
Lychrissa Harris singled twice for the Cobras. Maddy Rialsdoubled. Macie McQuage and Haynes singled.
Shelby Lofton posted the win with no strikeouts and 1 walk.Haynes fanned 2 batters and walked 1.
