Loyd Star Hornets bash McComb, Bogue Chitto

The Loyd Star Hornets hosted a classic tournament and managed tosweep the McComb Tigers 14-1 and the Bogue Chitto Bobcats 13-3Saturday in baseball action.
“It is good to start the season 2-0,” said Loyd Star coach JonathanBreakfield. “We hit the ball really well and had good pitching. Ourstrike ratio was very good today.”
The Hornets return to action Tuesday, hosting the Jefferson CountyTigers on Smith Field. Game time is at 4:30 p.m. with the juniorvarsity, followed by the varsity at 6:30.

Tyler Case (5K, 0BB) pitched the win on the mound for the Hornets.McComb had 2 hits.
Cori Crowe, Taylor Jones and Case were the offensive leaders forLoyd Star with a double apiece as the Hornets scored 14,first-inning runs. Travis Keene hit a single.
Loyd Star 13, Bogue Chitto 3
Korey Allen (6K, 1BB) picked up the win on the mound for theHornets. Bryce Roberts (1K, 4BB) absorbed the loss for theBobcats.
Logan Smith provided the offensive firepower for Loyd Star with ahome run and a double. Tyler Case contributed a double and asingle. Travis Keene hit a double. Brandon Canny contributed threesingles. Cory Funk and Marquise Hayes belted two singles apiece.Hitting safely were Korey Allen, Deth Farmer and TaylorJones.
Kevin Brothern was the leader for the Bobcats with a double.Roberts and Keith Wells collected a single apiece.
