Lady Bears dump Lady Bobcats 12-5

BOGUE CHITTO — The West Lincoln Lady Bears captured a 12-5division win over the Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats in girls slowpitchsoftball action Thursday night. The game was stopped after thesixth innings when a transformer blew out.

According to West Lincoln head coach Andrew Redd, a discussionwas held with the region official who ruled the game was officiallyover after six innings.

“We played real well,” said Redd. “Everybody hit the ballwell.”

Posting the win on the mound was Brittani Phillips with onestrikeout and four walks. Latoya Braxton took the loss with onestrikeout and two walks.

Powering the Lady Bears with two home runs and two singles wasBritnee Smith. Ashley Palomarez doubled and singled. Singling threetimes was Lauren Smith. Alicia Kennedy singled twice. Holli Smith,April Kennedy and Phillips singled.

For Bogue Chitto, Candace Braxton ripped a homer, a triple and asingle. Kayla Smith singled twice. Hitting safely were Meleah Brownand Haley Roberts.

The Lady Bears collected 16 hits to the Lady Bobcats seven.

The junior high game saw West Lincoln knock offBogue Chitto 7-3.

Kacey Smith led the Lady Bears with a triple and a single.Ashley McCaffery, Stephanie Smith, Kayla King and Julie Casesingled. Smith was the winning pitcher with two strikeouts and nowalks.

Leading Bogue Chitto with a home run was Shaquille Burton.Singling were Jessie Miller, Morgan Roberts, Chassity Moak, HollySmith and Laken Crosby. Caitlin Owens took the loss with threestrikeouts and five walks.

West Lincoln meets Brookhaven Saturday. The girls game begins at10 a.m.
