Robber hits city restaurant

Brookhaven authorities are searching for a suspect in a robberyat a restaurant Friday night.
Around 9:34 p.m. Friday, an undetermined amount of cash wastaken from Bowie’s on Magee Drive after a customer made threats,according to police reports.
“The employees said that a black male in his mid-20s approachedthe register with (an order) to go and handed them a piece ofpaper,” said Brookhaven Police Detective Roger Wilson.
Employees took the note, which said: “Give me the money or Iwill kill everybody,” said Wilson.
After employees gave money to the suspect, he ran out the door.The amount of money taken was not disclosed.
Employees did not see which way the man went, but they didobtain a description of his clothing, according to the policereport.
The suspect was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, gray nylonpants and a baseball cap. His beard, sideburns and mustache weretrimmed close to his face, said Wilson.
Wilson added that the department had no leads in the robbery buthoped local citizens would be able to provide information thatwould lead to the suspect’s arrest.
Authorities are also investigating a rash of burglaries atBrookhaven businesses over the weekend. Details will be reported asthey are made available by police officials.
