Terry tops Lady Cobras

TERRY – The Wesson Lady Cobras opened their 2000 softball seasonwith a 12-2 loss at the hands of the Terry Lady Bulldawgs Tuesdayafternoon. Lane Young is the Wesson softball coach.

Terry outhit Wesson 11-6. The Lady Cobras committed six errorswhile the Lady Dawgs had just one error.

Melanie Keen was the winning pitcher and Brittany King was theloser.

Wesson tied the game briefly at 2-all in the top of the thirdinning. Millie Smith had two RBI’s on a fielder’s choice to secondbase and scored Maggie Morgan and Chanelle McCrory.

After 30 minutes of play, the game was halted for about 10minutes in the bottom of the fourth inning due to rain andlightning.

When play resumed, Terry took advantage of Wesson’s errors forsix runs and a 10-2 lead. The Lady Dawgs added two more runs forthe 12-2 win.

Valorie Brooks went 3-for-3 for Wesson with a double and twosingles. Maggie Morgan tripled and singled. Hitting safely wasHeather Morgan.
