WESSON — A trio of outstanding area high school basketballplayers have signed scholarships with the Coach Gwyn Young’s Co-LinLady Wolves. They are Alisha Mason of Enterprise, Shalenia Wilcherof Franklin County and Jalissa Sandifer of Hazlehurst.

The Lady Wolves finished the 2006 season with a 20-8 record.Co-Lin advanced to the championship game of the Region 23Tournament where the Lady Wolves fell to Northeast 74-73.

Mason (5-10) played center for Coach Jill Nations’ EnterpriseLady Yellow Jackets. She averaged 21 points,10 rebounds, 3 stealsand 2 assists per game.

“Co-Lin has a great basketball team and I want to be part ofit,” said Mason who would like a career in coaching and teaching.”I loved playing basketball for Coach Nations.”

Mason was named Miss Basketball and Most Valuable Player on TheDAILY LEADER’s All-Lincoln County Basketball Team.

Nations said Mason is an exceptional player. “Alisha believes inworking hard to get better. She’s a very good athlete.”

Wilcher (5-11) started at forward and averaged 17.5 points, 4rebounds and 2.2 steals per game for Coach Freda Craft’s HazlehurstLady Indians. Hazlehurst (29-7) advanced to the semifinals of theState 3A Tournament in Jackson.

“Jalissa has quickness,” said Craft. “She was our leadingscorer.”

Sandifer (5-9) played forward for Coach Charles Moore’s FranklinCounty Lady Bulldogs. She averaged 13.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and8.5 steals per game.

Franklin County finished 22-3 on the season.
