GOODMAN – Snow and cold brought out the best in Co-Lin’ssoftball team. On a chilly Monday, the Lady Wolves swept Holmes 9-1and 12-0, despite a steady snowfall in the second game. Theyaccounted for 21 runs, 33 hits and committed just one error in theoverpowering performance against the winless (0-4) LadyBulldogs.

“It was a great day for the Lady Wolves,” said Co-Lin head coachAllen Kent. “Our girls did a good job staying focused and battlingthe brutal weather. There’s no telling what the wind-chillwas.”

Freshman pitcher Bethany Pinkston (3-1) authored two strongshowings inside the circle. In the opener, Pinkston hurled a3-hitter and matched that number I the 5-inning nightcap. Shestruck out 22 batters in 11 innings of action.

Co-Lin 9, Holmes 1

Freshman Haley Sones collected four hits in the victory. She brokea scoreless duel in the fourth when she tripled down the left fieldline and scored on a passed ball.

Freshman catcher Laken Lockhart provided a 2-run double in thefifth and Sones hit an RBI double. Shortstop Danielle Wilson had 3hits in the win, including a double.

Pinkston fanned 11 and walked 5 in the opener.

Co-Lin 12, Holmes 1

As the wind chill dropped into the 20s, designated player CaseyRisher singled to right field to end a scoreless battle in thethird. Risher, Lockhart and Monea Cameron each had three hits inthe win. Lockhart drove in four runs.

DeeDee Walker and Katie Stewart had two hits apiece forCo-Lin.

Pinkston fanned 11 batters, walked 3 and scattered 3 hits.
