Funeral services for Lorena Prather Wooten,of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 8, at New ProspectBaptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. BrookhavenFuneral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Sunday from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the funeralhome on Natchez Drive.
Mrs. Wooten, 90, died Jan. 6, 2012, at her home. A native ofFranklin County, she was born June 26, 1921, to Orville and EllaHerring Prather.
She was a faithful member of New Prospect Baptist Church where shewas very active; she loved WMU and was a former Sunday schoolteacher there. She was a good seamstress, enjoyed playing cards,and had a love for porcelain dolls. Mrs. Wooten was a homemaker,great cook and hostess by feeding many people. Most of all, she wasa good wife, mother and grandmother and was committed to herchurch, as well.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Claude Wooten;son, Gordon Wooten; three sisters; and four brothers.
Survivors are her sons, Steve Wooten, of Star, and Howard Wooten,of Madison; daughter, Gwen Jeffries, of Brookhaven; 19grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; fivegreat-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jason Wooten, Shannon Wooten, Josh Wooten,Kevin Wooten, Will Jeffries, Kevin Barnett, Bill Smith and DavidPeavey.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any mission offeringsor any children’s orphanage.
