Enterprise divides season openers

The Enterprise Yellow Jackets realized a split in baseballaction at West Lincoln’s 2-day Classic event. The Jackets stung theSalem Wildcats 16-2 in five innings Friday night and lost 17-5 tothe Sacred Heart Crusaders of Hattiesburg, Saturday.
Enterprise resumes action Friday, March 4, hosting the LincolnCounty Tournament. The Jackets (1-1) battle West Lincoln at 7 p.m.Action continues Saturday as Enterprise tangles with Bogue Chittoat 10 a.m. and Loyd Star at 5:30 p.m.
Enterprise 16, Salem 2
Cody White was the winning pitcher for the Jackets with 9strikeouts and 4 walks. D.J. Harness absorbed the lost with 3strikeouts and 9 walks.
Garrett Greer was the leader on offense as he sparked the Jacketswith a home run. Blake Fugler continued the flames as he hit twosingles. Hitting safely were Konner Burke, Dylan Smith, BraxtonFoster, Chance Owens, Zach Stafford and White.
“We played very well,” said Enterprise coach Cass Brister. “We hitthe ball hard and our pitching was good. Glad to start the seasonoff with a win.”

The Crusaders capitalized on Enterprise’s 6 errors to take the winas Ty Hughes was the winning pitcher for Sacred Heart with 3strikeouts and one walk. Garrett Greer took the loss for theJackets with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.
Burke led the Jackets’ offense with a home run and a single. Whitebelted a double and a single. Fugler collected two singles. Hittingsafely were Brad Prather, Smith and Greer.
“Sacred Heart took advantaged of our errors,” said Brister. “Theyhit the ball really well against us.”
Blake Moore and Reese Blackburn were the leaders for the Crusaderswith a double and a single apiece. Nolan Mixon hit a double andPaul Morend collected two singles.
