Veggie dish takes top prize

This year judges had a hard time deciding on winners in the 32ndannual Wooden Spoon Cookbook Contest – because all of the food wasso mouth-watering good.
Recipes ranged from the very simple with a few ingredients tothe very complex with many.
This year’s winner comes from the vegetable category by way of afamily recipe. Amanda Boyd’s Sweet Potato Pone took top honors notonly in its category but also as the grand prize winner.
She was awarded $250, while each category winner was awarded$50.
Boyd was a finalist last year with her recipe, Amish FriendshipBread. The 43-year-old homemaker is married to Dusty and has twodaughters Bethany and Danica and a son-in-law, Jason Boyd.
One of the more simple recipes, Sweet Potato Pone takes gratedraw sweet potatoes and a few simple ingredients combined into avery tasty and easy dish. Judges remarked on the flavor and textureand were nearly unanimous in their choice for the top award.
